Named after the town in Monaco known for its gambling casino, Chevrolet had a sure thing with its beefy, full-size Monte Carlo SS, especially when outfitted with the SS454 package, which included the 454 cid., 365-hp big-block V-8 engine . Standard with the package was a blacked-out rear body panel, heavy-duty front and rear suspension and stabilizer bars and exclusive badging. Although '71 marked the last year of availability for the SS 454, with just over 1,900 models being ordered, the personal luxury car went out a winner!
