Tony Cerra of Diecast Reproductions, has once again teamed up with the amazing Manny Solano to weatherize Franklin Mint’s 1982 Corvette.

Tony first commissioned TFM to produce a very limited, 1,000 run, edition of the 1982 Corvette Coupe. Tony and Manny have selected a few of these to display Manny’s uncanny talent of transforming a cherished model into the ‘before’ stage. You may imagine this once hot sports car before it was allowed to wither on the vine, or dump, or auto graveyard.

He has come up with a new process for weathering and it looks really authentic! Each model, of course, is different than the next since the process is highly subjective in his customizing procedure. On this, and subsequent models, the process will include a flat tire, rusted out chassis components, varying holes and bare fiberglass threads, holes and cracks and stuffing liberally showing through the seats, a cool, scaled “For Sale” sign in the windshield and paint so worn that the primer shows through.
