No one thought the Fords could win at Le Mans. The LeMans was considered a car breaker and no one could beat the Ferrari. In 1966 despite tragic testing, the Ford GT 40 dominated the race. The Fords finished 1,2,3 in one of the the most controversial finishes in the history of LeMans. The team of Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon was declared the winner and drove to the victory stand.
