MIC / 1964 Ford Thunderbolt Butch Leal "Mr. 427 Ford" / Precision 100 Limited Edition 2,004
Ford Legends Series #1/ 1:18th scale
Maroon ( corrected version w/ mag wheels)

Butch Leal, the "California Flash" received number 7 of the first seven Thunderbolts from Henry Ford II at the Dearborn, Mich Proving Grounds and went on to win many races. This car set a NHRA record in Texas of 11.81 ET and 123 mph. Later it recorded an even faster time of 11.48 and 126.85 mph with slicks! Butch even won the nationals Super Stock title in Indianapolis against 54 cars! In 1964 A Ford Thunderbolt won Super Stock at both the Winternationals and the Nationals.
This is the best 1/18th factory drag diecast car to date. The proportions, detailing and quality are executed by the same factory that produces models for Danbury Mint and it shows. Underhood details are awesome after you remove the real hood pins. The interior is extremely well done, with opening glove box door and opening ash tray. The dash is beautifully done as the rest of the interior, ( check out the key in the ignition!) right down to the adjustable seats. The trunk includes weatherstrip, as well as showing the rear seat springs and burlap upholstery backing. If you love Fords, or you just love 60's muscle cars and are a serious collector, you'll want this car in your collection. When the Thunderbolts left Dearborn Steel Tube, the builders of these cars, they were equipped with rear seats and hood hinges. Many of the racers modified them to have "lift off" hoods and/or removed the rear seats for additional weight saving, especially if they ran the cars in the "FX" class. Original "Super Stock" cars had to be equipped with complete interiors, including rear seats.
