AutoArt / 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Manta Ray-Mako Shark II/Millennium Edition / 1:18th Scale

Blue-Silver-White

The Manta Ray, a GM design concept, was commissioned by Bill Mitchell, the head of GM and a keen deep sea fisherman, who wanted to develop a model based on the sleek apperance of a mako shark gliding through the water. He personally appointed Larry Shinoda to carry out the design work and the result was the dramatic, original two-toned Mako Shark of the early sixties. The Manta Ray or  Mako Shark II was developed from the original Mako Shark and it's design was to greatly influence the styling of the Corvette from 1968 on. The car was powered by a 427/ZL-1 aluminum engine with automatic trans controlled electronically from a rotary selector. The body featured a host of special show car features, many that were used in production cars many years later. This Millennium Edition replica from Auto Art is the best diecast made of this historic vehicle to date and a must in every Corvette enthusiasts diecast garage!
