Danbury Mint / 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner / Limited Edition 2,500 / 1:24th Scale

Sunset Coral & Raven Black

If you remember the hit song, Blueberry Hill, by Fats Domino, or Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley, you probably stuffed nickels in a jukebox while sitting at a table in your favorite diner as you sipped a milkshake with your girlfriend. And if you looked out the diner window there in the parking lot was parked a 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner Convertible with the top down of course. And it was probably Sunset Coral and Raven Black.

I'll make this very easy for you; if you collect fifties replicas stop reading now; pick up the phone and order this model; it's that simple. This model is pure fifties and even though it is old tooling it doesn't show its age. Not at all.

Fit and finish are stunning, shut lines are tight, and every working feature: doors, hood and trunk function smoothly. The black and white interior really pops nothing toyish about it either. I love ''Bling'' so viewing the rear ashtrays in the armrest was a real treat. Also, the chrome window cranks and door handles just added to the ''Wow'' factor of this model too.

I should mention the model does include a boot and up-top, and both fit snuggly in place. The model also includes a removable spare tire too.

Now hold on to your horses because we are about to open the hood to reveal the most important part of all, the engine. And this Ford Fairlane Sunliner is powered by the Thunderbird Y-8 engine as it was called. With Conventional Overdrive, it developed 200-h.p. through an 8.0 to 1 compression ratio. Performance was unmatched by any car except the Thunderbird itself. And in typical Danbury fashion nothing is missing, and it looks outstanding under there if you ask me. As I stated at the opening of my comments on this model it is an old tool but you sure couldn't tell it by viewing this model inside and out. Buy it!
