1976 Chevelle Laguna Type S-3 frame -off project.
I love the '70's, including some of the cars and this is one of the more underrated models from that decade. (Cale Yarborough one 2 Winston Cups, 1976 & 1977 in a Chevelle Laguna) I purchased this car in July 2004 from the 2nd owner ( the first owner only had it 6 months). 74,000 original miles, nearly rust free. I cruised in it summer of 2004 but a restoration was in order. It will have the soul of the '70's but the heart of the '60's when I'm through with it. Tear down has begun, I'll post pictures to show the progress.

First day home July, 2004. Looks great in the pics, original Mahogany metallic acrylic lacquer w/ white swivel bucket interior but I knew a full restoration was around the corner.

Spring 2005, tear down begins. Time to remove the "NASCAR nose"..and it's heavy!

Undoing GM Baltimore Assembly Plant's work, 30 years later.

On the rotisserie. Now the real work begins. Hey "O.C. Mike", your Monte is next!

Before & After. Sandblasted and primered.

Look what frame sandblasting reveals. Note date of frame production.

Pics above update July '06. Note tubular A-arms, drop spindles, rear billet aluminum lower control arms, heavy duty sway bars BIG rear drums. Finish it all off with stainless brake and fuel lines.

Pics above update April 28, 2007 showing frame "assembly completed" to date. The Laguna body can be seen on the roto in the background. MEDIA BLASTER is NEXT!.

Nov 7, 2007, Laguna on the move to Brearley Media Blast and Painting, Paulsboro, NJ. Note the guy in the mini van turning his head to see. We were turning heads the entire 20 miles to Paulsboro. This car will be in much demand in the future.

In the yard.

The Laguna body and all sheetmetal back from the blaster 11/21/07 courtesy of Tony Gambardella of Gambardella Racing in Williamstown, NJ. 2 coats of black epoxy primer ( Lesonal) on a nearly perfect body. Brearley Blasting reported no body filler anywhere, however the blasting revealed some minor floor issues. Email for more pics.
