  The Pontiac Firebird was introduced February 23, 1967. There were a total of five engine options available. Marketed as the "Magnificent Five", two engines were versions of the overhead-cam six cylinder. Another version, the "light weight" Firebird H.O. (High Output), came with a 326 V-8, with the top two being versions of the 400 engine. The 326 H.O. powered Firebird with stiffer suspensions, dual exhausts, and side stripes with "H.O." lettering was available for an additional $169.70. Premium fuel together with four-barrel carburetion provided 285 horsepower. Only 6,078 H.O. Firebirds were built-in 1967. All '67's, except base Firebird models, received right rear adjustable traction bars.
